Eastern Rosella

Platycercus eximus

Other Names:

The northern subspecies is known as the Golden-mantled Rosella or Parakeet.

Cock Eastern Rosella on top of a nest log at Parrot Haven Aviary Eastern rosellas as a rule don't make good companion parrots. We have hand reared them in the past and produced beautiful cuddly parrots that would sit all over us.

Within a couple of weeks of being put into a nursery environment they start to become stand offish not wanting to be touched and nippy.

As an aviary parrot their exquisite colour is hard to resist. Their whistling ability is well known and a pleasure to listen to.

One of Parrot Haven Aviary's cock birds.
